It's Tuesday and snowing like a ____ in Toronto! But RGC is finding ways to keep warm as they prepares for what's to come.

There are some performances coming up! But lets not forget our last performance (sorry for the late post). It is not my favorite performance BUT I wore red pants (That looked pink in the stage light!). This is a cover of "We All Want Love" by Rihanna.

Hate or like it- We still enjoyed it!

RGC Happy New Year 2013

A New Year for many of us symbolizes fresh starts, new beginnings and renewed hopes, dreams and aspirations. It is usually the time of year when people take stock of where their focus has been over the past year and where they would like to project said focus for the coming year. It is my sincere hope that within this process of reflection each one of us would have found and focused more on the positives in our lives than the perceived negatives.

There is one school of thought that the perceived negatives in our experiences and conditions are the contrasts we need to determine what it is we really want from this physical experience. How that usually works is, according to this school of thought, by identifying what it is you do not want via perceived negatives you can then identify its positive contrast as what you do want. Not only is identifying what you do want is key, but more importantly is to hold that desire in consciousness and feel the emotion of experiencing it in the present as if it already was.

My wish for all of us on this physical journey is to develop the habit of turning our focus more on our positives individually and collectively while having the emotion of its experience in the NOW; to start a chain reaction of positive vibrations which will infect everyone who crosses our path in life.

Happy New Year, Happy New You 2013!

Day of Pink Toronto 2013 - "Anti-Bullying Campaign???"

I have read somewhere before and heard numerous times during the sermons by my Pastor, Rev. Dr. Sheila Mckeithen - Minister of Universal Centre of Truth (UCT), Kingston, Jamaica that, "Anything you fight against, fights back... And usually it whips your butt!". I don't believe this statement is meant to advocate indifference or dis-concern towards negative and undesirable circumstances and conditions in our lives. However, it discourages the empowerment of them by giving our time, energy and attention to them.

The prefix 'anti' connotes opposition and suggests 'against-ness' towards something or someone. 'Anti' is usually applied to many of the social injustices and causes in our world today which usually requires a conscious investment of time, energy and attention in opposing them; rather than time, energy and attention spent effecting positive and desirable changes. And remember..., "Usually it (they) whips our butt!

Rainbow Gleeques Coalition (RGC) hosts, Day of Pink Toronto annually in the month of April. Day of Pink Toronto was first launched on Friday, April 20, 2012 after RGC was invited by Jer's Vision, founder of International Day of Pink, to participate in the event held in Ottawa. Unable to make the trip to Ottawa, RGC decided to host its own Day of Pink celebrations in Toronto. International Day of Pink is a day where communities  across the country and the world can unite in celebrating diversity and raising awareness to stop homophobic, transphobic & all forms of bullying, generally referred to as an "Anti-bullying Campaign".

Rather than hosting an "Anti-bullying Campaign", join RGC for Day of Pink Toronto, April 2013 in celebrating diversity in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Trans-sexual, Queer, Questioning, 2-Spirited, Intersex and Allies (LGBTTQQSIA) Communities. Let us collectively and consciously invest our time, energies and attention in effecting positive and desirable changes towards homophobic, transphobic & all forms of bullying through Day of Pink Toronto 2013 celebrations.

Stay tuned for the assigned date for Day of Pink Toronto 2013 and please provide us with suggestions for our theme next year by:

RGC's 2nd Appearance at Miss High Performance Canada

On Sunday, November 25 RGC will make its second appearance at the Miss High Performance Canada 2012 stage.

Our first performance at this pageant was one year ago, November 2011, where we took the mostly Afro-Caribbean and Hispanic audience on an 'Island Nostalgia' voyage. Our repertoire was a combination of sweet Caribbean Folk melodies and 'Dramady' depicting the dynamics relationship drama and the juicy gossip it provides in a post-colonial era. The connection was evident by the response and interaction from the audience.

This year the theme for Miss High Performance Canada is 'You Are Beautiful' and RGC will not disappoint.

Hope to see you there!

RGC Shares: AMA's Performances 2012- One word... "Pink"

As a person who supports and loves the arts, I have to share Pink's performance at the 2012 American Music Awards. Please see the link above if you haven't watched it yet. Besides all the performances at the AMA's being extremely entertaining, this one takes the cake on creative. It is definitely the best performance at the 2012 AMA's by any artist.

My main interest is in dancing and acting over singing. Pink merged everything into one breath-taking performance. She started in a stance similar to the "Gemini Special Fighting Stance" from the movie, "The Man with the Iron Fists", which recently came out. That beginning alone had me mesmerized  All I can think when I hear Pink is Amazing!

I would suggest you search on YouTube some of the other performances, as even Taylor Swift added so much more than her usual to her performance.

Now for the most popular performance of the night. PSY (The korean singer who is now viral) performed with MC Hammer. It was so much fun watching all the celebrities attempt to Gangnam Style style at their seats. No matter if you love it or not, this performance is one worth mentioning. Please see it below and let me know what you think...

RGC Family

Since RGC's beginnings in fall of 2010, as founder of the group, I have seen many persons come and go.

I have seen persons who have always wanted to perform but found it a daunting task due to their own perceive limitations; I have seen those who have 'the chops' to perform but just wanted a temporary avenue to express their talents; I have seen supporters and allies who have acknowledged the relevance of our group; I have also seen persons who are interested in being a part of a community of aspiring performers exploring their talents in a recreational and non-judgmental space while building relationship.

The latter are the people who have become our RGC Family and even they, at times, are not always able to consistently attend our rehearsals on Saturdays between  2p - 5p and every 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month between 6p - 8p @ The 519 Community Centre, 519 Church Street, Toronto ON.

Our RGC family is made up of an array of personalities with varied talent-sets, and just like the colors of the rainbow we blend those talents and personalities and are one; collectively creating artistically 'To Amuse, to Inspire, to Delight'. We have stayed, and are consistently working together to create a space where you too will feel free, comfortable and safe to explore your artistic talents. Join Us!

Hope to see you soon,
